Ferdinando Forlati
Ferdinando Forlati was an Italian engineer and architect. He was quite active in the Veneto region, restoring and remodelling numerous local historic buildings.
The second of three children, Forlati came from a family of clock and watch makers. He followed his father's wishes and enrolled in the civil engineering degree programme at the University of Padua, graduating in 1907. Yet he never abandoned his artistic interests, and between 1909 and 1910 he took art history classes held in Padua by Andrea Moschetti.
In Ferrara, Forlati worked with the engineer Augusto Berlese to design Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali (The Assicurazioni Generali Building).
